HANK AARON, Braves | 2000 Topps Baseball All-Star FanFest distributed at Atlanta
For the Baseball Hobbyist. . .#1 of 4 – HANK AARON, Milwaukee Braves Issued by Topps Atlanta hosted the 2000 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star game and the popular co-event, FanFest. Four special cards were produced for the event – one each by the major card producers of the day: Topps, Upper Deck, Pacific and Fleer. Card #1 of 4 was intended to be the a rendition of the 1954 Hank Aaron rookie card but instead, a batting pose of Aaron was substituted. This offer is for the Hank Aaron batting pose version. Each measures the modern standard (2-1/2″ by 3-1/2″) and features a full color image. On the front, « Topps » appears in gold stamping near the upper left corner. In the lower left corner is the 2000 MLB All-Star logo. On the reverse, the card is numbered « 1 of 4 » and below Aaron’s complete major league batting record is a line which reads: Registered & copyrighted 2000 THE TOPPS COMPANY, INC. Condition: Near-Mint/Mint There was an « error » version of Topps’ entry. It was a reprint of the 1954 Topps baseball card of Hank Aaron (his rookie card, by the way). It was never distributed at FanFest 2000 but is available elsewhere. Speculative Note why this card may not have been distributed at FanFest 2000: There were four different Hank Aaron cards issued for the 2000 All-Star FanFest event and each was a unique design. It may be that Topps originally intended to go with the 1954 Aaron rookie format but switched to a unique (never before used) format (like the other manufacturers) and released it rather than the ’54 style. In any event, we believe we were the first to offer this card on eBay._______________________ Important: Shipping Information A goal has always been to keep shipping costs low.
