Offered for your consideration is. . . 1988 BASEBALL IMMORTALS Very Limited Edition ~ Series 3 *SCARCE COMPLETE 31-CARD SET 30 Charles Martin Conlon photo cards including Babe Ruth plus checklist card Fifth of 8 Standard Size Card Sets issued 1986-1988 In 1988, World Wide Sports, in cooperation with The Sporting News, issued several 30-card series made from original photographic negatives created by master photographer CHARLES M. CONLON. These cards, unlike earlier Conlon Collection products (1981, 1983 and 1984), are standard card size (2-1/2″ by 3-1/2″). All cards are in sepia tones. No production numbers for this series were announced but, in our experience, series 3, 4 and 5 are as scarce (or scarcer) than the 1986 and ’87 numbered limited editions, and they were limited to just 12,000 each. An educated guess would be 10 to 12,000 of each – perhaps fewer. If you lack this excellent set, consider grabbing it when available at reasonable cost. This Conlon Collection series – like all Conlons – feature the best writing to be found on the back of any baseball card. You can actually learn something by collecting Conlon sets. Card condition: Excellent-Plus to Near-Mint with most cards being Near-Mint or better. Alphabetically, this set (series) includes: ~ Series III ~ Babe Ruth (is top card) plus *Babe Adams ~ Grover Cleveland Alexander ~ Eldon Auker ~ Jack Barry ~ Wally Berger ~ Ben Chapman ~ Mickey Cochrane ~ Frank Crosetti ~ Paul (Daffy) and Dizzy Dean ~ Leo Durocher ~ Wes Ferrell ~ Hank Gowdy ~ Andy High ~ Rogers Hornsby ~ Carl Hubbell ~ Joe Judge ~ Tony Lazzeri ~ Pepper Martin ~ Lee Meadows ~ Johnny Murphy ~ Steve O’Neill ~ Eddie Plank ~ Jack Picus Quinn ~ Charley Root ~ Fred Snodgrass ~ Tris Speaker ~ Bill Terry ~ Jeff Tesreau ~ Specs Toporcer ~ checklist card *Note: Charles « Babe » Adams is pictured but the reverse side of the card has information on Ace Townsend Adams. This is an uncorrected error. _______________________ Important: Shipping Information A goal has always been to keep shipping costs low. Our primary objective is to sell cards and other things of interest to baseball hobbyists – not make money by overcharging on shipping. If you ever believe you are being overcharged on shipping, please email us and we will double-check the facts of the matter. Thank you! For U.S. customers (on most items) we combine multiple items purchased so you pay only the shipping charge on the heaviest item – all other items ship free of charge. (An exception would be if an item must be sent via media/book rate; also, on certain heavier items there may be an extra charge due to increased cost of shipping via Priority Mail instead of First Class.) In order to receive this combined item/one-fee service, PLEASE wait for or request a combined invoice. Otherwise fees accrue which we cannot eliminate. We will ship worldwide: Before buying citizens of all other countries, please email us first for the exact cost. We pack your order carefully – sandwiching cards between cardboard and utilizing boxes, bubble wrap, etc., as necessary – to ensure your items arrive in the condition you expect. Items are shipped the next business day. We ship 5 – usually 6 – days each week. Payment should be made within 7 days after initial purchase on invoice. 1974 Fleer Hall of Fame Complete 50 Card Set
A little history is helpful because this set is often confused with Fleer’s larger 1975 release. The set was successful enough that Fleer followed it with an 84-card version in 1975. The white borders and lack of official numbering are key identifiers.
